Marrakech to Toubkal Basecamp
Time: Day 1
8:00 AM – Departure from Marrakech: Your journey begins with a morning pick-up from your riad or hotel in Marrakech. Enjoy a scenic drive through the charming village of Asni and the heart of the High Atlas Mountains to Imlil (1740m), the starting point of your trek. Arrival in Imlil: Upon arrival, meet your expert local guide and trekking team, including a cook and mule handlers who will assist with carrying your luggage. After introductions, you’ll prepare for the hike. Start of the Trek (9:30–10:00 AM): Begin your ascent with stunning views of the surrounding peaks. Along the trail, visit the Chamharouch Shrine, a spiritual landmark, where you’ll pause for lunch. Afterward, continue trekking to the Toubkal Refuge, situated at 3207m altitude. This day’s hike takes approximately 5–6 hours, offering ample time to enjoy and photograph the magnificent scenery. Overnight at Toubkal Refuge: Settle in for the evening with a warm meal and rest, preparing for the next day’s climb to the summit.
Summit Day and Return to Imlil
Time: Day 2
Early Start: In winter, wake up at 5:00 AM; in summer, at 3:30 AM, to take advantage of optimal weather conditions. After a hearty breakfast, begin your ascent to the summit under a starry sky. Reaching the Summit: The climb takes 3–4 hours, with stunning vistas unfolding as you ascend. Upon reaching Mount Toubkal’s 4167m peak at sunrise, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views and golden light over the High Atlas Mountains – a perfect moment for capturing unforgettable photos. Descent to Imlil: After a brief rest at the summit, descend back , on the way enjoy a well-earned lunch. Then, continue the trek down to Imlil via the same route. Return to Marrakech: At Imlil, meet your driver for the return journey to Marrakech, concluding your exhilarating adventure.
