Fes → Midelt → Merzouga (7 Hours’ Drive)
Time: Day 1
After breakfast, meet your guide and driver for the journey. Travel across the plains of Saiss to Ifrane, known for its Swiss-like architecture and as a popular winter destination. Continue through the cedar forests to the Berber town of Azrou, located in the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you can stop and see the Barbary Apes.Lunch will be in Midelt, the region’s commercial hub, before heading to the Ziz Valley, famous for its date palm oases and kasbah villages. As you approach the desert, the landscape will change dramatically. Arrive in Merzouga by late afternoon and check in at your lodge at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes.Dinner and overnight stay at your Merzouga lodge.
Merzouga → Erg Chebbi Desert Camp (Camel Trek – 1 Hour)
Time: Day 2
After a leisurely breakfast, embark on a day of adventure in the Merzouga area. Visit the village of Khamlia to meet local Berber nomads, enjoy traditional Gnaoua music, and sip on mint tea. Explore the area for fossils and experience thrilling sand-bashing in the dunes with an experienced driver. In the afternoon, meet your camel caravan for a ride across the dunes to your desert camp or return to the camp by 4*4 back. Enjoy an optional sandboarding activity before witnessing the stunning sunset. Then continue to the camp for an unforgettable night under the stars. Savor dinner at the camp, followed by a lively Tam Tam drum session with local nomads.
Merzouga → Tinghir → Boumalne Dades (4 Hours’ Drive)
Time: Day 3
Optionally, wake up early to catch the sunrise over the dunes before breakfast. Ride camel’s back to town and meet your driver for the day’s journey. Visit Rissani, the birthplace of the ruling dynasty, and explore its bustling local date market. Next, head to Tinghir, a former military bastion, and stroll along the oasis, observing local life and the incredible views of Todgha Canyons, towering 400 meters high. Continue to Boumalne Dades for dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel.
Boumalne Dades → Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech (6 Hours’ Drive)
Time: Day 4
Travel through the Valley of the Roses and stop at a women’s cooperative producing natural rose-based products. Continue to Skoura, where you can visit the well-preserved Kasbah Amridil, a museum that showcases Berber culture and architecture. Drive to Ouarzazate for a brief stop before visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou. Take a walk across the river to explore this ancient fortified village, which has been featured in films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After lunch, continue your drive through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass where you will stop to enjoy panoramic views, before reaching Marrakech by late afternoon, where your tour concludes.
